A paediatrician

As director of the Leipzig University Paediatric Clinic, Werner Catel (1894-1981) ordered the murder of thousands of children with disabilities, even killing some of them himself.

In 1954, he became head of the paediatric clinic in Kiel. He maintained his commitment to the idea of systematically killing ‘people unworthy of life’. He was discharged when his misdeeds from before 1945 became known. His portrait continues to hang in the corridor of the paediatric clinic.
