Chief of the State Criminal Police

As an SS-Hauptsturmführer, Georg Heuser (1913-1989) was responsible for the murder of more than ten thousand Jews in Minsk. In the 1950s, he rose to become head of the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) in the Rhineland-Palatinate.

In 1959, he was arrested and charged as a war criminal. He received a 15-year prison sentence in 1963. He was granted an early release in 1969 on the grounds that he was ‘not a criminal in the usual sense.’
