Endless persecution

In addition to his work as a priest, Roth guided visitors through the former concentration camp; he also spoke about his time as a prisoner and campaigned for the establishment of a memorial. This caused tensions with the town of Dachau, the state of Bavaria and church leaders. The opposition he encountered made him feel as if he were being persecuted all over again. In 1960, he was placed on involuntary leave and died in Italy under unclear circumstances.
