As an SS perpetrator in France, Erich Heinrichsohn (1920-1994) organised the deportation of tens of thousands of Jews to death camps – including many children.
Although he was investigated for this in 1964, he remained mayor of Bürgstadt in Bavaria until 1980. French Nazi hunters eventually found evidence of his past and Heinrichsohn was sentenced to six years in prison. He only served a year and a half, however.
