Appeal from a Nazi follower

In his letter, the teacher explained why he had joined the Nazi Party. He claimed not to have been a National Socialist, and that he was actually an upstanding opponent of the regime. He wanted to return to his profession. Before this could happen, however, lay judges had to decide on his case. The Allies used this procedure, known as denazification, to prevent former Nazis from assuming important positions in society again.
