On 6 December 1992, more than 400,000 people demonstrated with candles in Munich against right-wing extremist violence in Germany. Many of the participants had never been to a demonstration before. The protestors held a moment of silence as a signal against the loud chants of violent right-wing extremists. Similar demonstrations were held in other cities in Germany and Austria.
