The French documentary Night and Fog (1956) shows the horrors of the Nazi concentration and death camps. Director Alain Resnais used original film footage and consulted with concentration camp survivors. It is one of the first comprehensive films devoted to this subject. Not approved for young viewership for many years, it began to be shown in German schools in the 1970s.
