Reinhard Schubert (1944-2000) married 25-year-old Marion Salomon in 1972. Through their marriage, he developed a close relationship with her Jewish family. As a lawyer in the Federal Ministry of Justice, he vehemently fought for the repeal of unjust sentences passed by the Nazis, in particular the sterilisation decisions of the so-called Hereditary Health Courts. With the support of a few colleagues, he was finally successful in 1998.
