In the name of the victims

Serge Klarsfeld (b. 1935) lost his entire family in Auschwitz. His wife, Beate, also born in 1935, became famous in 1968 when she publicly slapped German Chancellor Kiesinger for having played an influential role in Nazi broadcasting. In 1979, the couple founded an organisation in France for the descendants of Jewish victims of Nazis. The group tracked down perpetrators worldwide, collected evidence and forced trials to be held.
